Now in its 16th year, AIDS/LifeCycle is a fully supported, 545-mile bike ride from San Francisco to Los Angeles, California, that raises important awareness and funding for the ongoing HIV/Aids epidemic, including HIV testing and screening for other sexually transmitted infections, HIV medical care, and prevention services.
To support this important initiative, we at CCBill are once again doing what we can to bring attention to this issue, while sponsoring the upcoming AIDS/LifeCycle 2017 bike ride, with a charitable donation to our community peer, event rider and Cybersocket Co-founder, Morgan Sommer.
Taking place June 4 - 10, 2017, AIDS/LifeCycle is co-produced by the San Francisco AIDS Foundation and the Los Angeles LGBT Center, and designed to advance their shared interest to end the pandemic and human suffering caused by AIDS. These committed agencies provide the critical services and education required to meet the growing needs of the community.
In the seven days that it will take Morgan and his fellow riders to reach Los Angeles, more than 500 people in the US will become infected with HIV. Since 2002, when AIDS/LifeCycle first began, heroic riders have raised more than $236 million and completed more than 58,000 journeys on the ride. Despite the remarkable progress that has been made since the disease was first discovered in 1981, the HIV/AIDS epidemic is far from over. An estimated 1.2 million people in the US alone are living with HIV, and an estimated 39,000 will become infected this year. Donations to the AIDS/LifeCycle ride help support efforts to further prevent new infections, treat those currently living with HIV, and helps fund research to find a cure.
"Morgan's unwavering commitment to his 7th ride is a tribute to his passion and integrity, and we could not be prouder to support him in this very crucial effort. While there has been much progress in the fight against HIV/AIDS - in the current economic climate - keeping funds going to vital services is as important as ever," said Gary Jackson, Managing Vice President of Sales for CCBill.
We encourage everyone to join the fight by either making a donation or registering for the ride. To make a donation, please visit Morgan Sommer's 2017 AIDS/Lifecycle participation page.
